Homework!

The past 3 weeks, Room 23 have been working very hard making posters, booklets, iPad presentations, models and much more to show their understanding of a chosen culture. Miss Fels was very impressed with all the effort that went into these and they look outstanding! Here are some pictures of what we have done.

Narratives about the jungle or space

We have been writing narratives. We could choose space theme or jungle theme. Here are some of our favourite parts of our stories. Please have a read and leave us a positive comment!

One hot, hot day there were these two boys called Sam and Josh. They were really bored so Josh had a plan. He wanted to see what space looked like, Josh asked Sam if he wanted to go to space.

Later on they did some moon crater boarding and Sherbet crashed into the fuel tank and broke the rocket. They did not know what to do but 2 hours later another rocket came and took them home.

Karakia

Friday 29 September

Tomorrow is a super busy day at Botany Downs Primary School.
It is DAFFODIL DAY AND HOUSE DAY.
There will also be a staff vs. students netball game in the middle block. Support your teachers!

The Big Catch

Last week, Room 23 watched a clip from the literacy shed that was about a boy who caught a small fish. The fish was taken away by a fox who, without the boy realising it, led him to a much bigger fish. We described the moment the boy saw the fish leap out of the water and what the fish looked like.

The Splash

Ka-splash! Out of the water came an unbelieveable scaly super fish. I saw a huge slimy fish. The fish smelt like a rubbish dump. The fish dived and made a big splash into the water. The gigantic fish felt wet and gooey.

The Catch

Ka-splash! That is such a ginormous fish. It's so scaly, where did it come from? I know I haven't seen anything like that before but it doesn't smell that nice at all. Brrr...It's cold out here by the ocean. But it does look tasty mmm...but if I did eat it no-one would get dinner, but me.

The Big Catch

Ka-Splash! Out of the water came an unbelieveable super fish. The boy got gallons of water on him. The fish was so glorious. Did you see that ginormous fish? Next, the sound was so significant. Man you should of seen that, it was spectacular. The fish mesmorised the little boy. It was very spongy and ginormous. It was fish paradise and it looked like an ancient spirit. I'm going to eat you spongy fish, scrumptious!

My Fish

What the...what! That was the most ginormous fish in the world, I cannot believe my eyes, I am so lucky! It has to be at least 2 and a half meters long surely, I now feel very greedy. I saw about 50 or more scales on that thing. I have to catch that rotten fish. I just need to build a fishing rod, but where can I find a hook? That's about all I need. Wow there's one right in front of me. Ok I have built a rod. My shiny hook is in the ater. Now I wait 2 seconds later. Wow! I caught that massive super fish. I just need to reel it and...done. Oh this is a soggy fish. Now all I have to do is bring it to my village and that's my dinner for a week. This is the best day of my life!

W..w...what was that? Was that a ginormous fish, I'm star struck! Have you ever seen a great big fish before? Well it just jumped out of the water! W...wow! In and out of the water came a outrageous super fish! Dangit he has gone! Am I in a dream?!? I feel like I am in fish paradise! Incredible, the most mesmorising fish (I think) just jumped out of the water! Have you ever been star struck before? Well I am feeling star struck right now! I think that big fish is an Angel! Plop! Oh no it's gone away. I have to catch it! Whooosh! Wow is that a fish, naa it probably isn't. It is a fish! It is so unbelieveable.

Book Week 2014

Friday 1 August was Book Character Dress up day. Teachers and students got all dressed up and looked fantastic! Have a look at our photos and try and guess who we are dressed up as.

 

 

Mexican Art

We have looked at Mexican Til Foil Art the past few weeks and have made some vibrant lizard art using tin foil, sharpies, paper and pastels. They are so effective and we loved making it look 3D. Here are some photos of a few of them.

House Day

Cameo Writing

Last week we did some cameo writing. We focused on making our writing descriptive and include detail in our sentences.
Each table were given a different picture to describe and then we independently wrote about the picture.

Wacky Shoe Day!

Today was wacky shoe day. We had a wacky shoe day to encourage children to walk to school. DID YOU WALK TO SCHOOL TODAY?? 'The Incredible Movie Time'

Kapow! The movie starts, I can hear bird tweeting. Suddenly a blue Macaw show up. When i eat my ice-cream I can taste the wonderful taste of banana. When I ate my popcorn everytime I put it in my mouth my teeth crunched the popcorn into little tiny bits of popcorn and I could taste the wonderful molecules that are in the popcorn.


'The Candy Man'

I walked into the hall...mmmm...the smell of lolly pops squeezed tightly through my nostrils. It felt like I was surrounded by rainbow lollipops. The candy man flipped and rolled the boiling hot lollipop mixture on a heavy, rock hard metal table. He flavoured and coloured it and gave us a bit to shape into magical shapes. We had to 2 of each flavour. The flavours were strawberry and watermelon.

Splash!! Splosh!! Splish!! Kids were skimming about all over the pool like a dog that has just discovered that the whole world is made of doggy treats. I started to runto the pool, I jumped in. I was soaring under the water like a penguin who is trying to catch a fish. Suddenly I crossed against the back of the pool. The waves were starting up...CRASH!! I bumped against the back of the poolagain. I hit it a few more times. Then I was underwater, I could not breath. I swam to the surface but the waves were crashing against me. I ran out of the pool like a person who had just found out that there was a shark in the swimming pool. But it is all over now, I'm so glad of that.

Role Model - Homework
